SACS Facilities and Campus Closure
Please note as is usual all fields, pools, courts,
buildings and facilities on the SACS Campus will be closed for the
December holidays from Thursday 15 December 2011 until 9
January 2012. The decision is one made by the SGB and is done
in order to give the facilities a much needed “break”, and
also so that various grounds, cleaning, maintenance and hostel staff
can have a well deserved holiday.
We trust that you will understand and support
this decision.
If you are wishing to visit the Old Boys Office,
please contact Sandy and I will arrange to meet you at the OBU office.

Attention Former 1st XV SACS Rugby Players
The 1st XV Change Room has been upgraded thanks to
the efforts of the Trustees of the Percy Montgomery Foundation.
Each player now has a separate, numbered cubicle (see picture on SACS Rugby website).
From this year, at the end of each season, the
Foundation will put up a plaque in the cubicles of those players who
have played more than 75% of the 1st XV fixtures –
i.e. if the number 4 lock qualifies: then 2011
CHARLES DUCKITT would go up in cubicle number 4.
If you were privileged enough to have played for
the SACS 1st XV during your time at SACS and if you would like a plaque
put up in what would have been your cubicle – please let Simon
Perkin [perkins@sacollege.org.za]
have the number, the year and your name (as in the Charles Duckitt
example above) as well as a cheque / payment for R1 000 – this
money will go directly to the Foundation for the development of rugby
at the High and Junior Schools.
We are trying to bring history and tradition to
the 1st XV Change Room to help the players embrace the great teams and
traditions that have gone before them – thus your support will be
really appreciated!

In Memory of Doug Brown (SACS Teacher) 1927 - 2011
David Aschman ('65) pays tribute to former SACS
teacher Doug Brown who passed away last week. The memorial service took
place at the JH Hofmeyr Memorial Hall, on Friday 7 October 2011.
